“Be grateful for all that you have, accepting of all that you don’t, and actively create all that you want.” -Hal Elrod
Hal Elrod is a number one best selling author, keynote speaker, and personal development coach. His book The Miracle Morning has helped thousands across the board reach their true potential.
It’s a very powerful quote that I tell myself everyday. It makes 3 points which are excellent thoughts to live by.
“Be grateful for all that you have”
Gratitude is the readiness to show appreciation and thanks to someone, something, and even yourself. Have you ever felt empty, uninterested, depressed, or sad for some reason on another? Practicing gratitude can help significantly reverse those feelings to get you in a positive mood, an attitude of gratitude. Gratitude has been linked to better health, less depression & anxiety, life time satisfaction, good-natured behavior.
I am currently on day 8 of the 21 day gratitude challenge and I must say there is definitely a noticeable difference in my attitude. Basically you go on the app once a day and it gives you a little insight on the benefits of gratitude from successful individuals who also practice gratitude daily, such as Oprah.
The questions you are asked are very simple, only taking up about 5 minutes to answer, yet extremely effective. While you answer the questions you being to think about everything and everyone in your life that you are grateful for. Your mind is flooded with positive thoughts and emotions about how truly fortunate you are to have such amazing people in your life.
” accepting of all that you don’t,”
Worry is one of the biggest misuses of you intelligence and imagination. Especially when you cannot control the thing you are worrying about. Simply put worrying is ruminating about an event that either has happened in the past, will happen in the future, or a combination of both. We are hung up on something that is completely irrelevant to the present moment, pulling us further away from being.
We cannot control the weather, what others say, do, or thing. However we can accept it for what it is and more forward so that you can focus on more important tasks at hand.
Let’s say something happens that doesn’t particularly help your cause. Like your boss is putting you on another assignment where you need to start fresh and leave behind months of hard work. Realize that you cannot change the situation, your boss is the one who gets to make the decisions around here, not you.
Yes, I know it is frustrating that you worked so hard for so long only to have your boss pull you out of the project. Not to mention you have to start from square one. But since you can’t do anything about it, getting hung up will do no good.
On the other end of the spectrum let’s say you can control the situation, THEN WHY WOULD YOU WORRY???
You have the ability to fix the problem, stop worrying and get to work. If you can fix a problem and choose to worry instead then the problem is with you, not the situation.
” and actively creating all that you want.”
“Love the life you have while you create the life of your dreams. Don’t think you have to choose one over the other.” -Hal Elrod
Yet another inspiring quote from Hal, this one fits the third part of the original quote. Love who you are, because who you are now is exactly who you are supposed to be.
Who you are tomorrow depends on who you are today, so today you are who you are because of yesterday. If yesterday you did nothing, know that that doesn’t mean you are nothing now, it means you have a ton of energy to create an even better you tomorrow.
If you think that just because you weren’t great yesterday you won’t be great today. That’s your ego talking. Your ego is sucking the life out telling you that you’re not good enough. You are good enough. You are great.
